Christine Mathews Consulting was founded in 2005 to provide high-quality outsourced Human Resources services for small firms and companies in the San Francisco Bay Area.  With a growing team of hand-picked members, we strive to provide our clients with quality, personalized services, whether for a team of one or up to 100.  


Christine is a Human Resources Executive with an A.B. in Human Biology from Stanford University.  She started her career in Finance with J.P. Morgan and then transitioned into Human Resources.  She has managed all aspects of Human Resources in both start-up companies and in larger organizations.  Immediately before starting her own business, she managed Human Resources at Novacept, a medical device start-up, and grew the Human Resources function from 40 to a Surgical Division of 500 (including through multiple acquisitions) as the Director of Human Resources.  She also served as the Vice President of Human Resources at Baxano, Inc.  In 2005, she started Christine Mathews Consulting, Inc., to provide high-quality outsourced Human Resource services for small firms and companies.

AMANDA FRINK – Senior Human Resources Business Partner
Amanda is a Human Resources professional who has led both hands-on, tactical and strategic HR efforts for companies ranging from 9 employees up to 170 employees. Prior to joining Christine Matthews Consulting in 2017, she was the Director of People Operations at a financial tech startup in San Francisco. Previous to that, she managed all things HR and People at a legal analytics startup in Silicon Valley. Amanda thrives on turning disorganized environments into smooth-running operations, improving the employee experience, and building scalable processes from the ground up. She graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in International Development and Boston University with her M.A. in Global Development.

AMY BECK – Human Resources Business Partner
Amy has over 25 years of Human Resources experience, including various HR management positions.  She has experience creating new HR policies, programs and processes for both start-up and established companies, with her most recent experience as an HR consultant at various high-tech start-up companies getting their HR processes in place.  Amy holds a Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Phoenix.  She joined Christine Mathews Consulting in 2012.

BARRY GREENBERG – Senior Recruiter
Barry is a Human Resources/Recruiting professional with a BS in Psychology from the University of Illinois, Urbana, and an MBA in Management from UC Davis.  He has more than twenty years of corporate experience, mostly in the Biotech, Medical Device and Life Science industries.  Barry is an accomplished Recruiter.  He has functioned as the Corporate Staffing Manager at Bio-Rad Laboratories and has helped recruit the teams at several high growth startups such as Zeltiq and FibroGen.  Since joining Christine Mathews in June 2013, Barry has successfully sourced, recruited, and placed numerous candidates at many different clients.

BECKY BAYBROOK, PhD – Executive Human Resources Consultant
Becky has been a Global Vice President of Human Resources for 10+ years serving start-ups to medium-sized companies in high tech. Her focus is on practical, scalable people practices that drive business results and bring out the best in talent.  Most recently, Becky was Global Chief People Officer for Saama (big data solutions consultancy).   Prior to that assignment, Becky served as Vice President of Human Resources for Echelon (embedded control networks), Nanosolar (a solar startup), SST (a fabless memory chip company acquired by MicroChip) and for PDF Solutions (a process technology consultancy).   She started her career in the publishing business with Knight-Ridder (acquired by McClatchy).   She received a B.A. in Psychology from Westmont College and a Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology from the University of South Florida.   Becky joined the Christine Mathews Consulting team in 2016.

CATALINA WEBB – Senior Human Resources Business Partner
Catalina is a skilled HR professional whose background include recruitment and talent acquisition, performance management, compensation and benefits, professional development, and compliance. Over the past 15 years, she has worked at both large and small companies and her understanding and knowledge of different phases of startup lifecycle, as well as their specific needs and unique challenges, has prepared her well to offer her expertise to CMC clients.  She holds a B.A. degree in Contemporary Management from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. 

CLAIRE FREEMAN – Human Resources Specialist
Claire graduated with a B.A. in Communication from University of California, Davis. She managed all HR administration, recruiting and office operations at Upthere before they were acquired in 2017. Claire joined the Christine Mathews team in 2018 to support HR Business Partners in their projects. Claire completed her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training and enjoys teaching yoga classes in her spare time. 

DENISE LYLE – Senior Human Resources Business Partner
Denise leverages her 15+ years of HR experience in fast-paced technology companies. Prior to joining Christine Mathews in 2018, she was VP of Employee Success at Campaign Monitor, led Global People Programs at App Annie, and was the Head of People at Lattice Engines. Denise has managed HR, Recruiting, Employee Experience, Office Management, Executive Administration, and IT Help Desk functions. She has a solid HR generalist background specializing in compensation, benefits, performance management, employee relations, org design, compliance, and manager coaching. 

ELLEN DOUGLAS – Talent Acquisition and Executive Recruiter
Ellen joined the team in 2018 and brings over 20 years of recruitment and talent acquisition for the Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical and Medical Device industries. She received her BA in Organizational Psychology and MA in Educational Psychology from UC Santa Barbara, and later established her recruitment firm which offered a track record of success in representing clients from regional organizations to multinational corporations. Ellen led recruitment at Gilead Sciences as an Executive Contract Recruiter in Regulatory Affairs to develop and implement full life-cycle strategic plans and partner with management.  In her most recent role at Revance Therapeutics, Inc., Ellen partnered with HR to build the company towards commercialization.

GRACIELA CORONA – Senior Recruiter
Graciela is a Talent Acquisition Professional with over 10 years of staffing experience. Having been part of two successful Talent Acquisition teams at Onyx Pharmaceuticals and Medivation, she knows how to support the staffing process from start to finish.  Graciela has Summer Intern Program experience and has been AIRS certified. She has a B.S. in Business Management from the University of Phoenix.  Graciela joined the Christine Mathews Consulting team in 2016.

KEN BOEHM – Executive Human Resources Consultant
Ken has been a Global Senior/Vice President of HR in both biotech and high technology small, medium, and larger firms.  Ken was just recently the SVP, HR at Aimmune Therapeutics, an FDA breakthrough status company he helped take public.  Under Ken’s leadership, the company grew from 30 employees to nearly 200 employees.  In addition, Ken has led HR or major functions of HR at CV Therapeutics, Gilead Sciences, and Synopsys.  Ken has his PhD(ABD) in Business from Golden Gate University, his MBA from Pepperdine University, and his BA in Math from UCLA.

KARIN DUN – Senior Human Resources Business Partner
Karin is a committed Human Resources professional with a B.A. in Legal Studies from the University of California, Berkeley. She has over 15 years of experience encompassing the full range of HR administration advancing through supervision and management at Bay Area start-up, mid-size and large technology corporations, including Model N, Excelitas, Veritas, and Symantec. Karin serves clients with her deep expertise in all aspects of Human Resources.

KRISTIE DANG – Senior Human Resources Business Partner/Manager
Kristie is a seasoned Human Resources professional with a B.A. in Business from Bethel University, and an MBA from San Jose State University. She has nearly 15 years of experience in all aspects of Human Resources, in high technology with Symantec Corporation and more recently in biotechnology with XenoPort.  Kristie has had years of experience in recruiting and as a Business Partner to line organizations, where she has expertly serviced clients at Christine Mathews Consulting since 2010.

LENA PANG – Human Resources and Finance Specialist
Lena joined the Christine Mathews Consulting Team in 2016 as a Human Resources and Finance Specialist.  Lena has a strong background in Finance, with her most recent role as an Accountant at EarLens Corporation.  Aside from her Accounting responsibilities, she performed various supporting HR duties where she learned about Human Resources, which helped her transition to her current role at Christine Mathews Consulting.  Lena has also worked at Baxano and Novare Surgical Systems.  She received her B.S. in Business Administration from San Diego State University.

LINDSEY RODMAN – Senior Human Resources Business Partner
Lindsey joined Christine Mathews Consulting in 2016 with over five years of HR generalist and operations experience. Lindsey has worked with companies ranging from early stage startups to established international organizations. Most recently, Lindsey worked as an HR Manager at BackOps where she supported over 25 clients across the country. Prior to BackOps, Lindsey held HR positions at Logitech and Silver Spring Networks.  Lindsey holds a B.A. in International Studies from UC Irvine and taught English in Japan for two years following graduation. Lindsey received her PHR certification in 2014. 

LISA MAXSON – Senior Human Resources and Finance Business Partner
Lisa is a Senior HR and Finance Business Partner who holds a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Phoenix.  She has over 10 years of comprehensive human resource experience including compensation, benefits, payroll, recruiting, and employee relations.  Lisa also has significant experience in Finance, including general ledger, financial statement preparation, and full service accounting.  She was most recently at Baxano Surgical as the Human Resources Manager, where she managed all aspects of Human Resources.  Prior to that, Lisa worked in Finance as both a Senior Accountant and an Accounting Manager.  Lisa joined Christine Mathews Consulting in 2014.

LORNA FIGUERA – Human Resources Business Partner
Lorna joined CMC in 2018 and holds an M.S. in Human Resource Management from USC and a B.S. in Business Psychology from Palo Alto University where she graduated magna cum laude. She specializes in biopharma and hi-tech start-up companies and was the first HR hire at Acerta, a small biopharma company, where she helped scale the company from 30 people to about 300 and was integral in the M&A processes as it got acquired by AztraZeneca. She also worked at a large hi-tech company, Western Digital, that went through some M&As as the absorbing company with 4 other entities (SanDisk, HGST, Tegile, and Upthere) and helped to sort through the chaos to create mainstream HR processes for the company.

MARIKA BEYAERT – Human Resources Business Partner
Marika is a multilingual HR professional with an HR degree from the EHSAL Management School in Brussels, Belgium, and a Coaching certification from the International Coach Federation. She has extensive international experience through work in Europe and Asia in the areas of Talent Acquisition, Talent Development, Coaching and HR Process Improvement & Quality Assurance. She worked both in small and large companies, as an employee or as a consultant. She joined Christine Mathews Consulting in 2018 to support HR Business Partners in their projects.

MICHELLE HEATH – Senior Human Resources Business Partner
Michelle joined CMC in 2018 and brings nearly 20 years of HR generalist experience with start-up biotechnology and non-profit organizations.  Through a customer service based approach, she works closely with all levels of the organization to provide leadership and support for full life-cycle recruiting, onboarding, performance management and development, cultural initiatives, employee communications, benefits management and legal guidance for all employment decisions.  Michelle holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California at Santa Barbara.  

MODDY WONG – Senior Human Resources Business Partner
Moddy is a “hands-on” human resources professional with over 16 years of broad Generalist experience in the Software, Semiconductor, Big Data and Medical Device industries.  She has extensive experience with benefits administration, multi-state payroll administration, compliance, employee relations, policy development, immigration, staffing, stock administration, and many other day-to-day HR functions.  She graduated with her B.S. in Business Administration from California State University, East Bay (formerly Hayward).  

MONICA JENKINS – Senior Human Resources Business Partner
Monica joined Christine Mathews Consulting in 2018, bringing with her many years of experience in Talent Acquisition, Diversity and Inclusion, and overall HR operations building the HR infrastructure for small growing companies.  In her previous role, she was the sole HR practitioner,
and later part of a talented HR team growing a small biopharma organization, which was then acquired by Pfizer Pharmaceuticals.  Monica has been in the biopharmaceutical industry for many years and has been fortunate enough to work for great companies such as Genentech, Amgen, and The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.  She has a degree from Santa Clara University.

MYLINH BAYLEY – Human Resources Specialist
Mylinh is an experienced Office Manager and Administrator for early stage companies and holds a B.A.S. in Biological Sciences and Psychology from UC Davis, and an MBA from San Jose State University.  She was the initial Office Manager for both Coalescent Surgical and Fultec Semiconductors, managing overall administration, including Human Resources, for both as they grew and ultimately were acquired.  She joined Christine Mathews Consulting in 2010 and manages Human Resources programs and administration for our clients.

NANETTE HACK – Senior Human Resources Business Partner
Nanette brings 20 years of HR generalist experience built on MBA and BS degrees in Human Resources Management.  She has extensive experience working for Fortune 500 and small start-up companies where she helped them through rapid growth by creating human resources processes and systems that scaled as business expanded.  She has expertise in the areas of Employee Relations, M&A, Project Management, and Organizational Development.  Prior to joining the Christine Mathews team in 2016, Nanette worked at Rimini Street, Nokia, and Sunpower Corporation.

NAOMI THROWER – Executive Assistant
Naomi is an accomplished Executive Assistant with years of extensive experience supporting high-level executives in the biotech, manufacturing, and venture capital industries.  Her previous companies include 5AM Venture Management, Bay City Capital, Affymax, Affymetrix, and Monoclonal Antibodies.  Prior to transitioning into the corporate environment, Naomi was an elementary school teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District and San Mateo Elementary School District.  She received her Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from California State University at Hayward, CA.  Naomi joined Christine Mathews Consulting in 2017 and helps keep things running smoothly for our team.

NINA BORJA – Senior Human Resources Business Partner
Nina joined CMC in 2018 with over 20 years of expertise in Human Resources, ranging from the execution of HR operations, recruiting, and employee relations, to providing strategic counsel to senior and executive management. She has worked in the high-tech and large retail industries, but the majority of her experience has been with small-to-medium sized biotech and pharmaceutical companies—her most recent role as Director of Human Resources for Durect Corporation. Nina received her bachelor's degree in Clinical and Counseling Psychology with a minor in Human Resources, from San Jose State University, and later earned her PHR in 2013, and SHRM-CP in 2015.

PAM RICHARD – Senior Recruiter
Pam Richard joined Christine Mathews Consulting in 2018 as a Senior Recruiting Consultant.  She attended Keene State College and studied Liberal Arts.  She has a broad recruiting background and 15+ years of experience in Staffing, Life Sciences, Biotech and Pharma with a focus on Research and Development.  Most recently she has worked with Illumina and Grail where she helped build the R&D teams. She enjoys the challenge of a fast pace and working with passionate leaders to build great teams.

TATIANA VECHNIAKOVA  – Senior Human Resources Business Partner
Tatiana has more than 10 years of HR management experience in the technology industry and private equity space, where she has had success building HR organizations from the ground up.  Prior to joining CMC in 2017, Tatiana was VP of HR at MeForo USA, a start-up where she was responsible for the entire HR function for both US and international employees.  She has also worked at Grid Dynamics International, Return on Intelligence (RoI), and Exigen Capital, LLC.  Tatiana graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor in Business Management and Administration from Hope International University (formerly Pacific Christian College).

TREENA KEATING – Executive Assistant
Treena is an accomplished Executive Assistant with over 15 years of experience supporting high-level executives.  Prior to joining CMC in 2018, she spent 12 years with the UCLA Athletic Department.  After moving to the Bay Area, she served as Office Manager for an internet start-up company, FanSnap (ticket comparison-shopping site) and got her first introduction to managing Human Resources. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she also served as a member of the women’s gymnastics team.  

TRISH COLLINS  – Senior Talent Acquisition Consultant
Trish joined Christine Mathews Consultant in 2018 with over 25 years of experience in various industries in the San Francisco Bay Area. She spent almost ten years in R&D recruiting for Gilead Sciences and Amgen. Additionally, she’s held talent acquisition leadership roles for Facebook and Gap Inc. She’s also recruited for Apple’s retail and online divisions. Trish has BS and MS degrees in Criminal Justice.

VERA SWITEK – Talent Acquisition Leader
Vera joined the Christine Mathews Consulting team in 2017 as the Talent Acquisition Practice Leader.  With a history of over 18 years in the industry, Vera is passionate about helping to identify top talent and growing biotech organizations.  Her past experience includes building the talent acquisition function at BioMarin Pharmaceutical and Medivation.  Prior to that, she recruited for a variety of drug development organizations in the Bay Area.  Vera earned a Bachelor's degree in Business at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

WENDY BOWMAN – Senior Human Resources Business Partner/Manager
Wendy is an experienced Human Resources professional with a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Costa Rica where she graduated with honors.  She has over 15 years of Human Resources experience at companies including Procter & Gamble, SurgRx, and Ethicon Endo Surgery.  Wendy has managed all aspects of HR operations, recruiting, planning, and developing strategic initiatives for scaling and growing businesses.  She is truly a "Generalist" in Human Resources and well versed in all aspects of the discipline.  Wendy joined Christine Mathews Consulting in 2010.
