Christine Mathews Consulting was founded in 2005 to provide high-quality outsourced Human Resources services for small firms and companies in the San Francisco Bay Area.  With a growing team of hand-picked members, we strive to provide our clients with quality, personalized services, whether for a team of one or up to 100.  

 

CHRISTINE MATHEWS – Founder & CEO
Christine is a Human Resources Executive with an A.B. in Human Biology from Stanford University.  She started her career in Finance with J.P. Morgan and then transitioned into Human Resources.  She has managed all aspects of Human Resources in both start-up companies and in larger organizations.  Immediately before starting her own business, she managed Human Resources at Novacept, a medical device start-up, and grew the Human Resources function from 40 to a Surgical Division of 500 (including through multiple acquisitions) as the Director of Human Resources.  She also served as the Vice President of Human Resources at Baxano, Inc.  In 2005, she started Christine Mathews Consulting, Inc., to provide high-quality outsourced Human Resource services for small firms and companies.

ALLEN TEPLITSKY, SPHR – People Operations Manager
Allen was certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) in 2016 and joined Christine Mathews Consulting in 2019. Prior to CMC, he acquired a decade of experience working in HR and Recruiting across various industries such as software, tech/social media, pharmaceuticals, entertainment, and non-profits from startups to Fortune 500 companies. Allen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Montclair State University and a Master of Arts in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University.

AMAN DHILLON, MBA – Senior People Business Partner
Aman joined CMC in 2019 with over 15 years of expertise in talent acquisition, onboarding, compensation, employee relations, program management, analytics, total rewards, and M&A experience. She built a strong foundation in Talent and HR while at PG&E and Kaiser. She has also worked at Robert Half International, Korn Ferry International, Life Technologies (acquired by Thermo Fisher), and Hara Software. Aman holds an MBA from Pepperdine University and a B.A. in Social Science from UC Irvine.

BARRY GREENBERG – Senior Recruiter
Barry is a Human Resources/Recruiting professional with a BS in Psychology from the University of Illinois, Urbana, and an MBA in Management from UC Davis.  He has more than twenty years of corporate experience, mostly in the Biotech, Medical Device and Life Science industries.  Barry is an accomplished Recruiter.  He has functioned as the Corporate Staffing Manager at Bio-Rad Laboratories and has helped recruit the teams at several high growth startups such as Zeltiq and FibroGen.  Since joining Christine Mathews in June 2013, Barry has successfully sourced, recruited, and placed numerous candidates at many different clients.

BECKY BAYBROOK, PhD – Executive Human Resources Consultant
Becky has been a Global Vice President of Human Resources for 10+ years serving start-ups to medium-sized companies in high tech. Her focus is on practical, scalable people practices that drive business results and bring out the best in talent.  Most recently, Becky was Global Chief People Officer for Saama (big data solutions consultancy).   Prior to that assignment, Becky served as Vice President of Human Resources for Echelon (embedded control networks), Nanosolar (a solar startup), SST (a fabless memory chip company acquired by MicroChip) and for PDF Solutions (a process technology consultancy).   She started her career in the publishing business with Knight-Ridder (acquired by McClatchy).   She received a B.A. in Psychology from Westmont College and a Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology from the University of South Florida.   Becky joined the Christine Mathews Consulting team in 2016.

CATALINA WEBB – Senior Human Resources Business Partner
Catalina is a skilled HR professional whose background include recruitment and talent acquisition, performance management, compensation and benefits, professional development, and compliance. Over the past 15 years, she has worked at both large and small companies and her understanding and knowledge of different phases of startup lifecycle, as well as their specific needs and unique challenges, has prepared her well to offer her expertise to CMC clients.  She holds a B.A. degree in Contemporary Management from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. 

CLAIRE FREEMAN – Human Resources Specialist
Claire graduated with a B.A. in Communication from University of California, Davis. She managed all HR administration, recruiting and office operations at Upthere before they were acquired in 2017. Claire joined the Christine Mathews team in 2018 to support HR Business Partners in their projects. Claire completed her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training and enjoys teaching yoga classes in her spare time. 

GRACIELA CORONA – Senior Recruiter
Graciela is a Talent Acquisition Professional with over 10 years of staffing experience. Having been part of two successful Talent Acquisition teams at Onyx Pharmaceuticals and Medivation, she knows how to support the staffing process from start to finish.  Graciela has Summer Intern Program experience and has been AIRS certified. She has a B.S. in Business Management from the University of Phoenix.  Graciela joined the Christine Mathews Consulting team in 2016.

HEATHER RAMSEY – Senior Human Resources Consultant
Heather brings nearly 20 years of experience of aligning a company's business strategy to their people development strategy in a thoughtful way through change management, culture alignment, executive coaching, leadership development, training development, recruitment strategy, performance management and total rewards. In her most recent position as an executive leader at Varsity Technologies, she successfully re-aligned the company mission with the company culture to decrease turnover and increase employee engagement and performance. Heather is a certified executive coach, Predictive Index facilitator, and holds a B.S. in Managerial Economics from UC Davis and a Masters in Strategic Human Resource Management from Cornell University.

ILYA ROZENBLAT – People Operations Coordinator
Ilya graduated from Vassar College with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Philosophy. He joined CMC in 2019 where supports the HR Business Partners with their clients.

JANAINA DARGELL – People Operations Manager
Janaina joined CMC in 2019 with over 8 years of HR experience in the biotech, software, and transportation industries. Her broad generalist experience include compliance, benefits administration, HRIS management, employee relations and immigration. Janaina holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Brazil.

JASMINE KUO – People Operations Manager
Jasmine joined CMC in 2019 with over 6 years of experience in a broad range of HR competencies at fast-paced international technology companies. In her last position, she managed the entire HR operations and administration for TrustArc and has a passion for motivating others and infusing positivity into the workplace. She leverages her social services experience working with various underprivileged populations in the Bay Area and Central Coast regions. Jasmine holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

JENNIFER VALLOR – Senior Human Resources Business Partner
Jennifer joined CMC in 2019 with over 12 years experience across HR competencies and industries.  Most recently the North American Head of People & Culture for a global FinTech firm, Jennifer has also led HR teams in the fields of Finance, Healthcare and Retail.  Focused on creative solutions for fast-paced, rapidly growing organizations, Jennifer enjoys building strong relationships with business leaders and aligning HR’s strategy to business objectives in order to drive success.

JENNY LEE – Finance and Operations Executive
Jenny joined CMC in 2019 as our Head of Finance and Operations after serving as VP of Finance at 5AM Ventures. She brings over 20 years of experience in financial management as well as start-up operating experience. Prior to 5AM, Jenny was the CFO at Global Catalyst Partners, a multi-stage venture capital firm. Prior to Global Catalyst Partners, she was the Controller at Gabriel Venture Partners, an early stage venture capital firm.  Jenny has served on the adjunct faculty and taught corporate and partnership accounting as well as developing and teaching internal accounting classes for AT&T. Jenny began her career at Ernst & Young working in both tax and audit. She holds a B.S. in Business Administration/Accounting and an M.S. in Taxation. In her free time, she volunteers for the Humane Society of Silicon Valley by lending her finance and operations expertise.

JILL SHERMAN – Senior Recruiter
Before joining CMC in 2019, Jill was part of two successful Talent Acquisition teams, Affymetrix and Gilead Science. In those roles, she focused on R&D, Product Manufacturing/Development, and Commercial functions. Before joining internal Talent Acquisition, Jill launched a successful Biotech Recruiting business supporting numerous companies in Life Sciences and Genomics-related technologies.  Jill brings nearly 20 years of experience in Staffing and Talent Acquisition in all areas of Life Sciences, Biotech and Pharma.    

JOANNA MONTGOMERY – Senior Recruiter
Joanna joined CMC in 2019 with over 20 years of talent acquisition experience. She has managed all aspects of full life cycle recruitment including relationship management, strategic partnerships, sourcing, interviewing and selection of top talent. She has been a key contributor in growing the companies she’s worked for and most recently at companies such as AstraZeneca, Gilead, Honor Health and Banner Health. Joanna holds a B.S. in Engineering and Applied Science from Arizona State University and a Human Resources Management Post Baccalaureate Certification from San Jose State University.

KARIN DUN – Senior Human Resources Business Partner
Karin is a committed Human Resources professional with a B.A. in Legal Studies from the University of California, Berkeley. She has over 15 years of experience encompassing the full range of HR administration advancing through supervision and management at Bay Area start-up, mid-size and large technology corporations, including Model N, Excelitas, Veritas, and Symantec. Karin serves clients with her deep expertise in all aspects of Human Resources.

KENDRA NEWBY – Senior People Business Partner
Kendra joined CMC in 2019 with nearly 20 years of HR experience.  She has a strong background in HR/People in the high tech and biotech industries.  Her most recent position was the Head of Client Services at OneDigital Health & Benefits.  Kendra holds a B.S. from Purdue University.  She is certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) with HRCI and earned a Certificate in Human Resources Management from the University of California Extension, Santa Cruz.

KIM MILLER – Senior Recruiter/Sourcer
Kim joined Christine Mathews Consulting in 2018 as a Senior Recruiter and Sourcer. Her vast experience includes working at companies such as Genentech, Gilead Science, Amgen, Bank of America, and PG&E. She also was part of the lead hiring team to help place 3,500 people for the opening of The Cosmopolitan Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV. With more than 20 years of experience in sourcing and recruiting, Kim utilizes various sourcing tactics to successfully place candidates and help develop teams.

KRISTIE DANG – Senior Human Resources Business Partner/Manager
Kristie is a seasoned Human Resources professional with a B.A. in Business from Bethel University, and an MBA from San Jose State University. She has nearly 15 years of experience in all aspects of Human Resources, in high technology with Symantec Corporation and more recently in biotechnology with XenoPort.  Kristie has had years of experience in recruiting and as a Business Partner to line organizations, where she has expertly serviced clients at Christine Mathews Consulting since 2010.

LINDSEY RODMAN – Senior Human Resources Business Partner
Lindsey joined Christine Mathews Consulting in 2016 with over five years of HR generalist and operations experience. Lindsey has worked with companies ranging from early stage startups to established international organizations. Most recently, Lindsey worked as an HR Manager at BackOps where she supported over 25 clients across the country. Prior to BackOps, Lindsey held HR positions at Logitech and Silver Spring Networks.  Lindsey holds a B.A. in International Studies from UC Irvine and taught English in Japan for two years following graduation. Lindsey received her PHR certification in 2014. 

LISA MAXSON – Senior Human Resources and Finance Business Partner
Lisa is a Senior HR and Finance Business Partner who holds a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Phoenix.  She has over 10 years of comprehensive human resource experience including compensation, benefits, payroll, recruiting, and employee relations.  Lisa also has significant experience in Finance, including general ledger, financial statement preparation, and full service accounting.  She was most recently at Baxano Surgical as the Human Resources Manager, where she managed all aspects of Human Resources.  Prior to that, Lisa worked in Finance as both a Senior Accountant and an Accounting Manager.  Lisa joined Christine Mathews Consulting in 2014.

LISA SILVA – Executive Human Resources Business Partner
Lisa joined CMC in 2018 with over 20 years of experience in Human Resources and Organizational Development within small biotech/biopharma firms to large medical device organizations.  She is experienced in delivering practical and sustainable HR solutions throughout the talent lifecycle in rapidly changing organizations and has experience in all aspects of Human Resources. Previously, Lisa worked at Johnson & Johnson, Novartis, Siemens, Applied Biosystems, Chiron, Santen and Celera where she held various levels of HR positions including VP of HR at Siemens Oncology. Lisa has also had her own consulting practice where she served as interim HR business partner to both start-up and established companies.  She holds a B.A. in Management from the University of Phoenix.

MARIKA BEYAERT – Human Resources Business Partner
Marika is a multilingual HR professional with an HR degree from the EHSAL Management School in Brussels, Belgium, and a Coaching certification from the International Coach Federation. She has extensive international experience through work in Europe and Asia in the areas of Talent Acquisition, Talent Development, Coaching and HR Process Improvement & Quality Assurance. She worked both in small and large companies, as an employee or as a consultant. She joined Christine Mathews Consulting in 2018 to support HR Business Partners in their projects.

MARISA BELTRAN – Human Resources Coordinator
Marisa joined Christine Mathews Consulting in 2017 as a Human Resources Coordinator. Since joining the team, she has helped build processes for talent acquisition and onboarding, accelerated recruiting efforts in high-growth companies, implemented ATS systems, and supported our HR Business Partners in many types of projects. Marisa graduated with a double major (B.A.) in Psychology and Spanish from the University of Oregon.

MICHELLE HEATH – Senior Human Resources Business Partner
Michelle joined CMC in 2018 and brings nearly 20 years of HR generalist experience with start-up biotechnology and non-profit organizations.  Through a customer service based approach, she works closely with all levels of the organization to provide leadership and support for full life-cycle recruiting, onboarding, performance management and development, cultural initiatives, employee communications, benefits management and legal guidance for all employment decisions.  Michelle holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California at Santa Barbara.  

MONIQUE PALMER – Senior Human Resources Business Partner
Monique is a Senior Human Resources professional with a strong background in helping leaders of startups to mid-size tech and retail organizations build high performing teams by finding unique ways to use employee engagement, talent management, and people operations programs as strategic differentiators in recruiting, developing, and retaining employees to support an engaging culture. She joined CMC in 2019 and brings 20+ years of HR experience with her. Monique holds a B.S. in Business Management and HR from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, an M.S. in Organization Development from the University of San Francisco, and is certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR).

MYLINH BAYLEY – People Operations Manager
Mylinh has experience in early stage companies and joined Christine Mathews Consulting in 2010. She holds a B.A.S. in Biological Sciences and Psychology from UC Davis and an MBA from San Jose State University. She manages Human Resources programs and operations for our clients.

MYRA CHU – People Operations Manager
Myra joined CMC in 2019, bringing with her experience in global biopharma, biotech, and start-ups. She has held various Human Resources positions, with her most recent role as Manager of HR Operations at Aduro Biotech, where she oversaw the day-to-day delivery of HR services for the company. She has also worked at Theravance Biopharma, New Relic, Shutterfly, and Onyx Pharmaceuticals (a subsidiary of Amgen). Myra holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management Economics from UC Santa Cruz.

NAOMI THROWER – Executive Assistant
Naomi is an accomplished Executive Assistant with years of extensive experience supporting high-level executives in the biotech, manufacturing, and venture capital industries.  Her previous companies include 5AM Venture Management, Bay City Capital, Affymax, Affymetrix, and Monoclonal Antibodies.  Prior to transitioning into the corporate environment, Naomi was an elementary school teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District and San Mateo Elementary School District.  She received her Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from California State University at Hayward, CA.  Naomi joined Christine Mathews Consulting in 2017 and helps keep things running smoothly for our team.

NINA BORJA – Senior Human Resources Business Partner
Nina joined CMC in 2018 with over 20 years of expertise in Human Resources, ranging from the execution of HR operations, recruiting, and employee relations, to providing strategic counsel to senior and executive management. She has worked in the high-tech and large retail industries, but the majority of her experience has been with small-to-medium sized biotech and pharmaceutical companies—her most recent role as Director of Human Resources for Durect Corporation. Nina received her bachelor's degree in Clinical and Counseling Psychology with a minor in Human Resources, from San Jose State University, and later earned her PHR in 2013, and SHRM-CP in 2015.

PAM RICHARD – Senior Recruiter
Pam joined Christine Mathews Consulting in 2018 as a Senior Recruiting Consultant.  She attended Keene State College and studied Liberal Arts.  She has a broad recruiting background and 15+ years of experience in Staffing, Life Sciences, Biotech and Pharma with a focus on Research and Development.  Most recently she has worked with Illumina and Grail where she helped build the R&D teams. She enjoys the challenge of a fast pace and working with passionate leaders to build great teams.

SARA SCIBETTA – People Coordinator
Sara graduated from Humboldt State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Composition. Prior to joining the Christine Mathews Consulting team in 2019, she held recruiting positions at Medical Staffing Network and West Valley Staffing Group. As our People Coordinator, Sara supports the HR Business Partners with their clients.

SARAH MURDOCK – Senior People Business Partner
Sarah’s passion for Human Resources is built on a foundation of watching a team grow and flourish. She joined CMC in 2019 and brings that passion along with her experience in start-up environments, with her most recent role as Head of Human Resources at Comprehend Systems. Sarah holds a B.S. in Biology (which makes the LifeScience industry near and dear to her heart) and has a Certificate in Human Resources Management from UC Santa Cruz.

SHOALEH GHAFFARI – Senior Human Resources Business Partner
Shoaleh has over 20 years of HR experience. Prior to joining CMC in 2019, she was Director of HR at a medical device company with hands-on responsibility for all aspects of the global HR function. Her experience also includes establishing the HR function at a start-up, building up the company to accommodate growth needs of the organization to over 350 employees, and finally leading up to the IPO. She has a B.S. in Business Administration from UC Berkeley and an M.S. in Human Resource Management from Golden Gate University. Shoaleh loves enhancing company culture where employees thrive and grow. She’s passionate about building trust and relationships at all levels.

TATIANA VECHNIAKOVA  – Senior Human Resources Business Partner
Tatiana has more than 10 years of HR management experience in the technology industry and private equity space, where she has had success building HR organizations from the ground up.  Prior to joining CMC in 2017, Tatiana was VP of HR at MeForo USA, a start-up where she was responsible for the entire HR function for both US and international employees.  She has also worked at Grid Dynamics International, Return on Intelligence (RoI), and Exigen Capital, LLC.  Tatiana graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor in Business Management and Administration from Hope International University (formerly Pacific Christian College).

TREENA KEATING – Executive Assistant
Treena is an accomplished Executive Assistant with over 15 years of experience supporting high-level executives.  Prior to joining CMC in 2018, she spent 12 years with the UCLA Athletic Department.  After moving to the Bay Area, she served as Office Manager for an internet start-up company, FanSnap (ticket comparison-shopping site) and got her first introduction to managing Human Resources. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she also served as a member of the women’s gymnastics team.  

VERA SWITEK – Talent Acquisition Leader
Vera joined the Christine Mathews Consulting team in 2017 as the Talent Acquisition Practice Leader.  With a history of over 18 years in the industry, Vera is passionate about helping to identify top talent and growing biotech organizations.  Her past experience includes building the talent acquisition function at BioMarin Pharmaceutical and Medivation.  Prior to that, she recruited for a variety of drug development organizations in the Bay Area.  Vera earned a Bachelor's degree in Business at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

WENDY BOWMAN – Senior Human Resources Business Partner/Manager
Wendy is an experienced Human Resources professional with a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Costa Rica where she graduated with honors.  She has over 15 years of Human Resources experience at companies including Procter & Gamble, SurgRx, and Ethicon Endo Surgery.  Wendy has managed all aspects of HR operations, recruiting, planning, and developing strategic initiatives for scaling and growing businesses.  She is truly a "Generalist" in Human Resources and well versed in all aspects of the discipline.  Wendy joined Christine Mathews Consulting in 2010.
